The Storage Networking Industry Association Europe (SNIA-E) and the Fibre Channel Industry Association Europe (FCIA E) are going to merge. The new organization will keep the current SNIA-E structure, as well as the name “SNIA Europe” and will add a Fibre Channel Forum to the association structure to continue Fibre Channel related education.
The merger is a Europe-only activity which should be completed by the end of May. It does not affect the other associations outside this region.
The pair aims to establish a single unified body to provide information and education on all aspects of storage networking and to drive the interests of users, channel partners and storage vendors within Europe.
Members of the FCIA Europe will receive a temporary membership to the SNIA Europe granting them the right to submit nominations for the new SNIA-E governing committee and to vote in the election in April 2003.
