Extech and FLIR unit move to Waltham

Extech Instruments, the manufacturer of handheld test and measurement tools, has relocated its headquarters from Waltham, Massachusetts to a new facility in Nashua, New Hampshire.

The Billerica, Massachusetts-based of operations of its parent company, FLIR Systems’ Commercial Systems, has also moved to the facility to Nashua. FLIR Systems acquired the stock of Extech Instruments Corp., for $40 million cash in October 2007.

The move is seen as signaling a milestone in Extech and FLIR’s transition towards a unified organization for the development of thermal imagers as well as  handheld test and measurement.

The Nashua location will house the eastern US operations for FLIR’s Commercial Systems division, supporting the FLIR and Extech brands, as well as FLIR’s marine systems division, Raymarine.

The new location will house administrative and corporate offices, customer service and technical support, marketing and sales, quality control, NIST calibration laboratories, repair services, and a warehouse. FLIR’s  educational institute, the Infrared Training Center, will also be moving to the Nashua location in January 2012.

Extech Instruments was founded in 1971 and developers testers and meters suited for electrical, HVAC, building/restoration, as well as a host of environmental testers for measurement of sound, light, humidity and other factors.
