LONDON SiConnect has joined the National Microelectronics Institute(NMI), the trade association which represents the semiconductor industry in the U.K. and Ireland.
SiConnect (Swindon, England) is the first powerline communications chipmaker to join NMI which now has more than 100 members.
“Joining the NMI provides us with the opportunity to exchange ideas with and learn from fellow fabless companies, many of whom have grown to become world leaders. From our own niche we have amassed a great deal of experience and knowledge and having a platform to share it with others can only benefit U.K. electronics as a whole,” said Andy Heaton, SiConnect VP operations.
Founded in 2004, Siconnect develops powerline communications technology for in-home applications such as triple play networks and home theatre. It has silicon and software solutions which enable existing domestic electrical wiring to be used to transport audio, video, voice and data throughout the home.
