Flash video coming to MIPS

Tarrytown, NY – On2 Technologies, Inc. has joined the MIPS Alliance Program and will bring its video compression solutions to the MIPS platform. On2 will optimize its TrueMotion VP6 decoder, used in Adobe Flash video, for the MIPS32 24K and MIPS32 24KE cores, which are used in DVD and set-top box solutions, and will offer a 'one-stop-shop' for video codecs to chipset and device manufacturers.

On2's codec portfolio include TrueMotion VP6 and VP7, MPEG2, MPEG4, VC-1, Sorenson Spark and H.264. The proprietary TrueMotion codecs are used in Adobe Flash and Skype, among other places.
