At ARM Techcon 2014, Freescale Semiconductor has inaugurated the first event in a futureInternet of Tomorrow tour by trailer along with partners Green Hills Software , Arrow Electronics, Linear Technology and Digi-Key.
These strategic partners are collaborating on IoT solutions by providing critical software, hardware, distribution and power management. According to Dave Kleidermacher, Green Hills chief technology officer, in the IoT trailer Green Hills will demonstrate its unique security, safety and real-time software solutions driving the IoT of today and connected products tomorrow.
The platform for the tour is a three-story trailer that is on display in the exhibit hall during the ARM Technology Conference and open during Expo hours. This event represents the launch of a tour across 20,000 miles that will include 100 customer sites, 23 training sessions, 20 university visits, and 9 industry events.
The vehicle includes a broad array of cutting edge IoT products, solutions and reference designs, including telepresence robots, data aggregators, advanced driver systems, wearables, next-generation networking gear and myoelectric gesture recognition technology.
Initial scheduled stops for the tour during October will be in during October will Los Angeles, Ca. on Oct. 7, Tustin, Ca. on Oct. 9 and San Diego, Ca. on Oct. 16, 2014.
Freescale’s Internet of Tomorrow Tour highlights IoT technology from the smallest wearable microcontrollers to the most complex networking infrastructure in applications such as: Smart Cities and Energy, Smart Hospitality, Smart Home and Buildings, Automotive ADAS, Instrument Clusters and Infotainment, Wearables and Medical as well as Smart Networks
With market research firms such as Gartner estimating that the IoT will include 26 billion units installed by 2020, John Dixon, Freescale’s Director of Marketing, said this growth will be fueled by both disruptive innovations that transform established industries, as well as through the creation of entirely new markets. The Freescale Internet of Tomorrow Tour features examples of both of these driving forces, he said.
