F&S Elektronik Systeme introduces a new Computer on Module as part of the efus product family. Efus A53LS is based on a 64 Bit NXP processor, the QorIQ LS1012A Layerscape, with ARM Cortex-A53 core and 800 MHz clock frequency. The CPU is optimized for battery-backed or USB-powered, space-constrained networking and IoT applications. Other highlights are high performance, fast interfaces and low power loss of only one Watt (typ.). The LS1012A incorporates the same Trust Architecture and software compatibility of higher-tier QorIQ LS family devices, enabling scalable, secure applications that leverage a common 64-bit software platform. Efus A53LS is equipped with up to 512MB DDR3L RAM and 64MB QSPI NOR Flash. It comes with interfaces like 2x 10/100/1000Mb Ethernet, WLAN IEEE802.11b/g/n, BT 2.1 + EDR, 4.0/4.1, UART, 2x I2C, SPI, USB 3.0 OTG, CAN, SDIO for μSD Slot, SATA and PCIe. F&S Elektronik Systeme’s customized Linux Yocto supports all available interfaces of efus A53LS, enabling an easy software development without the need of having in-depth hardware knowledge. efus A53LS will stay available until minimum 2031 (Commitment to Longevity by NXP).
The efus form factor has become very successful on the market, due to its frequently demanded characteristics: It has a size of 47x 62mm only and a 230 pin plug connector (MXM2), as well as the possibility to realize a design with a four-layer base board only. Other efus modules are available with NXP i.MX 6ULL, i.MX 6SoloX and i.MX 6Solo/ Dual/ Quad, modules with i.MX 8 are planned for 2018.
