Gateway SoC manages data over VDSL2 networks

Fremont, Calif.—Centillium Communications Inc. has released Arion II Gateway CPE, its first gateway SoC for VDSL2 networks.

According to Centillium, Arion II Gateway CPE offers equipment manufacturers fast time-to-market and proven processing power for voice, data and video in residential and small-office markets.

Arion II Gateway CPE integrates the features of Centillium's Atlanta 100 Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) system and its Arion eXtremeVDSL2 digital device. The chipset also adds new, patented technology to boost service quality for demanding triple-play applications.

Arion II Gateway CPE powers premium triple-play services, including IPTV, VoIP and high-speed Internet by providing a fully featured gateway-on-chip product for secure network routing, high-quality voice processing, robust video capabilities and high-performance data exchange over VDSL2 networks, with symmetric data rates up to 100-Mbits/s.

Arion II Gateway CPE supports full backward compatibility with ADSL2/2+ and VDSL infrastructure. The chipset includes a digital chip with integrated MIPS processor, encryption and QoS packet engines, a voice DSP, and an analog front-end chip. The chipset is accompanied with a software package and reference design that can be used out of the box to build a production-ready VDSL2 IAD.

Arion II Gateway CPE is the first product to employ Centillium's Crosstalk Rate Adaptation (XRA) technology, integrating proprietary, intelligent algorithms to eliminate line-drops and assure optimum data rates under crosstalk noise conditions.

The Arion II Gateway CPE SoC is available today and includes software, full documentation and comprehensive reference designs.
