LONDON — Harriet Green is to take over as Chief Executive and a director of Premier Farnell from 3 April replacing John Hirst who left the company last July.

In the early 1990s Green was the high profile Managing Director of the Macro Group, a U.K. based specialist electronics distributor and subsidiary of Diploma PLC. Since 1994, she has been with Arrow Electronics, including spells as President of Arrow's North American Contract Manufacturing Services group (CMS) and is currently President, Arrow Asia Pacific, a region that had sales of $1.17 billion in 2004 and 1,400 employees operating from 41 sites in 11 countries.

William E. Mitchell, President and Chief Executive Officer of Arrow Electronics, said, “Harriet has played an important role in Arrow's success during her 12 years with Arrow. We wish her continued success in all that she does in the future.”

Sir Peter Gershon, Executive Chairman of Premier Farnell, said, “I am delighted to announce Harriet's appointment following a rigorous recruitment process in which we looked at a number of outstanding candidates from the UK, US and Asia. She brings to Premier Farnell an invaluable depth of experience in successfully building UK, Continental European, North American and, most recently, Asian businesses.”

Green will link up again with Marianne Culver who succeeded her as MD of Macro in 1994 and who joined Premier Farnell in 2004 as group director for Global Supplier Marketing having held senior executive positions with Avnet which bought SEI Macro.

Andrew Fisher, who has been Group Finance Director for eleven years, has tendered his resignation pending his appointment as Finance Director of Provident Financial plc. He will remain in his current position until 16 May and the company is in the process of looking for a successor.
