LONDON Patrick Zammit is to become to president of Avnet Electronics Marketing for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), on Oct 1, succeeding Axel Hartstang , who has decided to step down after almost 30 years in the industry.
Hartstang took up the position in 2001 and was formerly president and CEO of EBV Elektronik. He joined Avnet when it acquired the Munich-based EBV Group, a pan-European semiconductor specialist distributor, as part of the VEBA Electronics Distribution Group acquisition in Oct 2000. He previously worked at Texas Instruments and Motorola. He joined EBV as president and CEO in early 1998.

Zammit began his career at Avnet in 1993, and is currently president of EBV Elektronik, the largest division of Avnet Electronics Marketing, EMEA. He was previously finance director of Avnet France, and both director of operations and chief financial officer of Avnet Electronics Marketing, EMEA.

Hartstang will continue with Avnet as an advisor to the EMEA team.
