High-density SS7 processor supports HDLC protocol
Newport Beach, Calif.Mindspeed Technologies Inc. has developed a high-density processor that enables networking equipment to terminate both data and signaling system 7 (SS7) traffic using the high-level data link control (HDLC) protocol.
The HDLC/SS7 signaling processor extends Mindspeed's line of multi-channel synchronous communications controller (MUSYCC) products while complementing its family of VoIP processors.
Mindspeed's MUSYCC M28480/81 HDLC/SS7 processors format and de-format 512 bi-directional HDLC/SS7 channels, and also provide a high-performance platform for running message transfer protocol (MTP) 1 and 2 in hardware.
Applications include 3G wireless, VoIP and other fixed mobile convergence applications.
Pricing: In 10,000-unit quantities, the M28480 HDLC/SS7 and M28481 HDLC/SS7 cost $149.60 and $159.60, respectively.
Availability: The M28480 HDLC/ is sampling now and scheduled to enter volume production in the third calendar quarter of 2007. The M28481 HDLC/SS7 with PCI express interface is sampling now and scheduled to enter volume production in the first calendar quarter of 2008.
