LONDON The IEE is to launch awards dedicated to recognising outstanding innovation in engineering. Individuals and organisations are invited to submit for awards in the sectors of manufacturing, electronics, transport, information technology, security, telecommunications, power, robotics and control, and electrical technologies.
Entries must describe an innovative engineering project, product or process for commercial use that demonstrates genuine novelty and represents a significant technological advance. In addition there are a further six cross-disciplinary categories including project team, emerging technologies, product design, and sustainability.
The closing date for submissions for The IEE Innovation in Engineering Awards is 15 June and they will be presented on 14 September 2005 at Savoy Place, London.
Individuals who have agreed to chair the judging panels include Internet pioneer Sir Tim Berners-Lee, Sir Robin Saxby, ARM Executive Chairman, Sir John Chisholm, QinetiQ Chief Executive, Alice Rawsthorne, Director of the Design Museum, Dr Raj Rajagopal, Chief Executive of BOC Edwards, and IEE President Prof John O'Reilly.
