A comprehensive set of miniature surface-mount infrared (IR) LEDs and phototransistors are designed for sensing applications in portable electronics, appliances, automotive, and industrial systems. Designated the OP2XX (IR LEDs) and the OP5XX (silicon phototransistors) series, the complete range of 0805, 1206, and PLCC (plastic leadless chip carrier) devices are designed by TT electronics Optek Technology. The IR surface-mount sensors include the OP200 and OP250 series high power devices in 0805 and 1206 packages; the OP520 series NPN silicon phototransistors in 1206 packages; the OP270 series narrow-beam IR LEDs in 1.9-mm packages; the OP570 series narrow-beam NPN silicon phototransistors in 1.9-mm packages; the OP280 series wide-beam LEDs in PLCCs; and the OP580 series wide-beam NPN silicon phototransistors in PLCC packaging.
All the surface mount IR LEDs are GaAlAs, with an 880-nm wavelength, with 30-V reverse voltage, 1.5-V forward voltage, 50-mA continuous forward current, and a power dissipation of 130 mW at 25°C. The silicon phototransistors are NPN devices with collector-emitter voltages of 30 V, emitter-collector voltage of 5 V, collector current of 20 mA, and power dissipation of 75 mW at 25°C.
