Java ported to ARM7 platform

England — OneEighty Software has released a port of its ORIGIN-J Java virtual machine to FS Forth-Systeme's UNC20 ARM7-based platform.

ORIGIN-J is a compact system designed to enable application designers to build Java-based systems within very constrained systems, particularly those which are memory-bound. It is suitable for applications such as embedded controllers, domestic, consumer and other cost critical applications. The UNC20 is a module based upon NetSilicon's NS7520 ARM7TDMI processor which is targeted at developers of embedded systems who wish to develop on an embedded Linux-based ARM7 platform.

The module is housed in an industry-standard DIL48 package, easing its integration into designs which require Ethernet/Internet connectivity.
