Ready-to-run implementations of Windows CE .NET and Windows XP Embedded are now available on Arcom's medium and high end Windows Embedded PC platforms. The SBC-GX1 development kit for Windows CE .NET provides the software pre-loaded on the resident 16Mbyte Flash drive.
Arcom has also bundled a number of additional technologies including the Macromedia Flash player for Windows CE .NET and the IBM J9 Java virtual machine making it suitable for developing content rich kiosks, information terminals and human-machine interface panels.
The kit includes the SBC-GX1 single board computer, PSU, mouse, full cable set, quickstart manual, an Arcom CD and the Microsoft eMbedded Visual Tools CD.
An optional NEC 6.5inch TFT colour LCD module and analogue touchscreen are also available. The SBC-GX1 is a 300MHz National Semiconductor Geode based processor board offering CRT/TFT VGA graphics, 10/100baseTx Ethernet, four serial ports, FDD/IDE interfaces, digital I/O and expansion via PC/104, standard PCI and a Compact Flash connector.
The Olympus Celeron/Pentium III development kit for Windows XP Embedded includes a licensed build of the operating system supporting the onboard 3D accelerated graphics controller, Ethernet and compact flash drive. The system boots from a 340Mbyte compact flash card.
Microsoft Windows XP Embedded is built on the proven Windows 2000 code base and is designed as a modular operating system for systems with and without the use of a display. It provides the security, manageability and .NET framework capabilities needed for medium and high-end applications.
The ability to deploy fixed implementations with and without display functionality means reduced field support and maintenance.
The development kit includes the Olympus single board computer fitted with a 533MHz Intel Celeron processor, PSU, mouse, full cable set including DVI and twisted Ethernet, DVI to parallel digital flat panel interface, Quickstart manual and Development Kit CD. The LCD and touchscreen are also available.
The Olympus single board computer supports Celeron and Pentium III Socket370 processors up to 1GHz, 133MHz FSB. This embedded PC has an integrated 3D VGA graphics controller, 10/100baseTx Ethernet, four serial ports, FDD/IDE and expansion via PC/104, standard PCI and a Compact Flash connector.
The Olympus also includes up to 32Mbytes of resident Flash, tamper detection inputs for secure applications and direct PanelLink DVI output for flat panels.
