The center will take over the activities of the former Kontron Asia Inc. which became part of the joint venture between Quanta and Kontron AG (Eching, Germany) and was subsequently renamed Quanmax. As of January 1, 2009, Quanmax will no longer serve the market with Kontron products and Quanmax and Kontron will work together over the next months to ensure a smooth transfer of Kontron's customers to Kontron Technology Taiwan.
In June 2008 Kontron said by 2010 it planned to manufacture 75 percent of its product output in a joint venture with Quanta.
The sales and support center will be managed by Christine Huang (Huang Shu-Mei), a long time employee of Kontron Asia Inc.
Tom Meyer, Kontron's vice president APAC said, “As she is very well respected by our customers and sales partners in the territory, Christine will be able to ensure seamless and continuous support for our valued customers.”
Kontron will integrate a strong network of sales partners into the new sales network in South East Asia.
