Kontron’s latest MicroTCA platforms handle multi-core processing, 10-Gbit/s switching

Kontron's latest MicroTCA platforms, the OM6090D and OM7090D, which conform to MTCA.1, are specifically designed for high-end AdvancedMCs and feature a 10-Gbit/s Ethernet switched backplane. In their maximum configuration, both systems can be fitted with up to 36 Intel XEON processor cores and 216 Gbytes of RAM. Applications include infrastructure nodes for mobile telephony, public safety engineering, medical, and military.

The two platforms OM6090D and OM7090D are based on the same compact chassis (266 by 428 by 365 mm), which is equipped with four rear-mounted extraction fans. They provide nine double-width slots for AdvancedMC modules and two slots for redundant MicroTCA Carrier Hub (MCH) configurations (up to 80 W). The Kontron OM6090D supports up to three pluggable AC-PSUs offering load balancing. For redundant power management, the Kontron OM7090D can be configured with two (one active + one standby) or three (two active + one standby) power management modules. A host of application-ready platforms are available from Kontron.
