Labtech beefs up microwave sales team

LONDON — Labtech Microwave has appointed Roger Burfoot as new sales manager for microwave broadband components based at its manufacturing centre in Milton Keynes.

Burfoot joins Labtech with over 20 years' experience of sales and marketing in high technology products for both the commercial and defence industries, having also previously worked within the Ministry of Defence for 11 years.

His new role with Labtech Microwave involves developing and maintaining accounts in the U.K. and European defence electronics industry and working closely with the company's network of sales representatives.

The company is also launching a focused turnkey microwave MIC assembly service to customers around the world who are looking for outsourcing solutions. It will provide a build-to-print microwave module and component manufacturing service, including design support, fully automatic chip placement and wire bonding, thin film and box build assembly, microwave printed circuit board manufacture, RF machining and microwave alignment and test up to 40GHz.

Labtech Micowave is also extending its product lines, with an extended range detector log video amplifiers, gain modules, and broadband amplifiers.

Burfoot has experience of handling major contracts from research and development through to the final product and has worked for both U.K. and U.S. companies. More recently, he has been working as a freelance consultant for three companies selling microwave components/systems into a number of different markets.

Labtech has two manufacturing centres of excellence, Labtech Circuits in Presteigne, Wales and Labtech Microwave in Milton Keynes. Together they employ a workforce of 126 and provide services to customers in the defence, space, SatCom and telecommunication markets.

The Milton Keynes operation was purchased from Filtronic Components in 2005.
