M2M division set up by 2001

LONDON — 2001 UK have created a new division to concentrate on the rapidly expanding use of M2M products in the industry. Neil Dodson, formerly of Macro and Motorola, has been appointed to head up this venture.

The M2M division's launch lines include Nokia M2M products including the Nokia 12i GSM/GPRS/EDGE modem module and Cyan Technology, a fabless manufacturer of 16 bit microcontrollers.

In addition to developing business on these lines, M2M has also now attracted new partnerships with; Adeunis (RF LAN modules), Aplicom (GSM/GPRS/EDGE modules and Telematics solutions), CompXS (Zigbee RF LAN modules and silicon), Multitech (Embedded connectivity solutions including Socket modems) and Teltonika (GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity terminals).

Roy Greer, managing director of 2001 (on left in picture) , said “2001 has established a thriving business in wireless and M2M, based on a superb range of leadership products and engineering excellence. Our new operation operates totally independently and is already creating its own mark with customers and suppliers.”

Dodson (shown right below) added “M2M is the perfect way to build on our company’s success in the wireless markets and Nokia have been the perfect launch partner with a unique product and a powerful brand.
