Macraigor adds low-cost debug interfaces for Freescale processors

Macraigor Systems' usb2Sprite devices for Freescale's ColdFire and DSP 56300 families provides design engineers with a low-cost USB 2.0 interface to the on-chip debugging features of these processors.

The devices are used to interface with Macraigor's OCDemon software for debugging and programming embedded hardware and application software. Macraigor added support for the Freescale ColdFire and DSP 56300 processor families to its free, pre-built GNU tools and has included sample configurations for most standard Freescale evaluation boards.

These examples contain source, gdbinit and make files for each board, allowing developers to quickly build, download and debug via gdb. Macraigor has also committed to supporting future ColdFire and DSP 56300 family variants as they become available.

In addition, Macraigor's Flash Programmer has been updated to support the ColdFire family, providing in-circuit Flash Programming of both internal Flash and externally connected devices.

The usb2Sprite embedded debug solution is immediately available for $225 USD. Compatible with all of Macraigor's development and debugging applications, usb2Sprite supports Windows and Linux hosts.
