Major chip company to get IAR to develop tools

LONDON — IAR Systems says a major international chip manufacturer has chosen it to develop a set of C/C++ compiler and debugger tools, IAR Embedded Workbench, for a new high-performance 8-bit architecture.

The contract includes development of a new product to be released in 2006 and product maintenance until year 2013 for the customer which was not named by IAR.

The IAR Systems (UPPSALA, Sweden) integrated development environment, IAR Embedded Workbench, is already available for about 30 different 8-, 16-, and 32-bit architectures from different chip manufacturers.

Olle Eriksson, President of IAR Systems, said, “Offering development of tailored software tools to chip manufacturers has for many years been part of IAR Systems' business model. This new contract is a proof of how highly chip manufacturers value both our concept of long-lasting relationships and our C/C++ compiler and debugger technology.”
