Manchester start-up raises $12million

LONDON — PCI Express IO virtualization developer VirtenSys Ltd., has raised $12 million in via a first round of financing from a syndicate including Scottish Equity Partners (SEP), Celtic House Venture Partners (CHVP) and GIMV.

VirtenSys’ technology is designed to allow system developers to build data centers that can adapt instantaneously to any workload, self-configure and self-heal in event of failures, and operate at higher utilizations than today’s systems.

The critical IO virtualization solutions are used in data centers, storage and networking infrastructure markets to the servers’ utilization.

Founded in December 2005, VirtenSys has assembled a team with experience in semiconductor and system development across a range of protocols and technologies with backgrounds at ICL, Fujitsu, Power X and Xyratex. The majority of the team was most recently with the Integrated System Division of Xyratex.
