The Mathworks and Texas Instruments continue their development tool collaboration with the introduction of the Embedded Target for TI C2000 platform of digital signal controllers. The product is intended to provide embedded control systems engineers developing automotive, whitegoods, and industrial control applications with the ability to design and implement real-time control and signal processing algorithms on TMS320C24x and C28x controllers.
The Embedded Target for TI C2000 controllers features automatic code generation and peripheral programming support from Simulink, offering users a connection between the design environment and implementation platform. The product enables engineers to identify and fix design problems at the system level and easily generate efficient code automatically, according to the two companies, eliminating the need for manual coding and verification methods.
The Embedded Target for TI C2000 addresses applications that require the execution of complex algorithms for features like sensorless AC induction vector control, “current-shaped” switched-reluctance control, or PMSM servo control, such as motion and motor control in automotive applications including electric and hybrid vehicles, industrial controls and motors, and consumer white goods. Targeted applications in the automotive sector include motor control based systems like electronic power steering and integrated starter alternator and passenger occupancy detection systems that require DSP processing power for complex algorithms.
The Embedded Target for TI C2000 works with Code Composer Studio (CCStudio), TI's integrated development environment (IDE) and allows execution of CCStudio commands for analysis, debugging, and automation. TI's C2000 digital signal controllers are optimized for control applications with a combination of MCU peripheral integration and DSP technology. The TMS320F28x digital signal controllers are designed to handle control system processing requirements and also replace control system host MCUs.
The MathWorks and Texas Instruments collaborate to provide engineers with TI DSP-based products. Previously introduced DSP development tools include MATLAB Link for Code Composer Studio and Embedded Target for TI C6000, which optimize software prototyping, testing, and verification for DSP-based systems. The Embedded Target for TI C2000 is available immediately. U.S. list price starts at $4,000. On-line training is also available from TI and The MathWorks.
