LONDON Polymer organic light-emitting diode (P-OLED) microdisplay specialist MicroEmissive Displays plc (Edinburgh, Scotland)) is expanding its European sales and marketing efforts with the appointment of Silicon Design, the rep/stockist arm of the Spectrum Electronics Group.
Operating from offices throughout Europe, Silicon Design will market MED’s P-OLED microdisplay technology and eyescreen products locally, for applications including portable head mounted displays and electronic viewfinders.
“The time is right for us to complement our expansion in manufacturing capacity with a sales and marketing thrust. We are poised to become a leading player, having secured the resources we need to achieve volume production at our facility in Dresden, and we have already won contracts worth in excess of $10million. With the appointment of Silicon Design we are set to expand sales in our target markets with a proven partner, chosen for its knowledge, support and customer relationships,” said Bill Miller, MED's chief executive.
“Silicon Design was specifically founded to service the sales, marketing and operational requirements of emerging companies such as MicroEmissive Displays.,” said Nigel Watts, managing director of Spectrum Electronics Group. “We’ve already seen a lot of interest in the eyescreen product range from customers designing next generation hand-held video games; mobile TV; web enabled mobile phones and video and still cameras.”
Silicon Design has also concluded partnership agreements with Intellasys, Cyan Technologies and e-Silicon, and has a number of other agreements with leading vendors awaiting legal ratification.
