Micro Digital's new smxAware Memory Map Overview (MMO) tool allows the user to visualize how memory is being used by an smx application and quickly zero in on memory problems. It adds another tool to the smxAware debugger plug-in to help smx application developers solve problems more easily and quickly.
Micro Digital's David Moore says that smxAware was designed to work something like Google Earth, allowing the user to zoom from a very broad view down to individual bytes.
Seeing the proximity of one object or region to another may give clues about the cause of a problem, especially an unsuspected buffer or stack overflow. The tool makes it convenient to see where things are in memory and to look at the contents of heap blocks, messages, task stacks, and other memory structures.
