MicroTCA platform suits IP-based communications systems

The AMP5071 MicroTCA system is aimed at system designers developing IP-based communication products. As part of Performance Technologies' IPnexus family, the system is suited for telecom, networking, aerospace, and defense communication systems.

Fully integrated and operational right out of the box, the AMP5071 lets embedded developers begin their product development immediately, without having to integrate disparate technologies from multiple vendors. It comes with one of two Advanced Mezzanine Cards (AMC): an Intel Core 2 Duo processor or a Freescale MPC8641D dual-core 1-GHz PowerPC processor. Additional AMC modules for I/O, storage, and compute functions can be configured and integrated to meet a wide range of IP-based communications design criteria. In addition, the high-availability MicroTCA system comes loaded with the company's NexusWare Carrier Grade Linux OS and development environment, and remote systems management software, NexusWare Portal.

Other features of the AMP5071 platform include four-nines of availability using redundant hot-swappable power supplies and fan trays; and dual 1-Gbit/s Ethernet links and by-4 PCI Express lanes to each AMC slot and Quad 1-Gbit Ethernet uplinks. OEM quantity pricing, including a processor AMC, storage, and NexusWare, starts at $4595. http://pt.com/content/embedded/application-ready-platforms/microtca/amp5071More information on the AMP5071 is available.
