A licensable digital video recorder (DVR) platform designed specifically for the surveillance market has been developed by MindTree Consulting and Analog Devices. The DVR product platform is based on Analog Devices Blackfin processor and the system is expandable up to 16 cameras with simultaneous recording, streaming and playback.
The DVR product platform provides processing to accommodate complex algorithms for compression, motion detection, object tracking and analytics. Driven by the dual core Blackfin AD-BF561 processor, the platform supports multi-format audio, video, voice and image processing; multi-mode baseband and packet processing; control processing; and real-time security.
The hardware architecture can accommodate customised hardware features, an enhanced front panel user interface, additional processors through external bus interface unit (EBIU) expansion slots, ports and interfaces. The scalable architecture provides provisioning for additional storage and IP networking features.
It provides MPEG-4 video and G.711 audio encoding with H.264 in development. Images can be archived al through USB 2.0 and SD card interfaces with simultaneous recording and live playback. Firmware can be upgraded remotely and encoded audio-video recorded on hard-disk drives. It captures BT656 4:2:2 format digital video in D1 resolution.
