Freescale Technology Forum, PARIS Mobile DVB-T front-end solutions developer, DiBcom, and Freescale Semiconductor have extended their partnership to develop a multi-chip module using Freescale's DVB-H tuner.
The module consists of Freescale's MC44CD02 direct conversion tuner and DiBcom's DiB7000-H channel decoder. The chips have been available for almost a year and have been used in DVB-H trials in a number of countries. The module will cut development time and effort and accelerate the integration of DVB-H into mobile devices as a plug and play feature.
Thierry Cammal, general manager, Freescale's Wireless and Mobile Systems Group in Europe, said, “Our cellular platform customers demand increased levels of integration, and this module delivers the optimal performance, size, consumption and cost for Freescale cellular platforms that will provide DVB-H capability.”
Freescale's design uses a direct conversion, zero intermediate frequency (ZIF) technique cuts power consumption and reduces the total number of components.
