LONDON Lambda has secured a contract with the UK Ministry of Defence to supply over 2000 general-purpose programmable power supply units to the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force for use in ground-based support stations maintaining electronic and electrical equipment.
As part of its thorough technical evaluation and selection process the MoD carried out rigorous testing of Lambda's products, at actual user sites and over several months.
The products specified by the MoD are from Lambda's Genesys range of 1U high 1500W rack or bench mounted power supplies, which can be controlled locally via the front panel or remotely via analogue or digital interfaces. The digital interfaces provided are RS232, RS485 and IEEE-488.
The front panel voltage and current controls are digital encoders and there are no adjustment potentiometers internally because calibration is carried out under software control. This contributes to long term stability and repeatability. The output ranges required by the MoD include output currents up to 50A and output voltages up to 400V.
