MUNICH, Germany For application with extremely limited space, Technolosoft (Bevaux, Switzerland) has developed a plug-in minidrive board. The PIM2401 controls DC, brushless, linear and step motors up to 25 Watts.
The small size (39x44x14 mm) and weight (15 g) allow the PIM2401 minidrive to be mounted horizontally or vertically inside the machine or near the motor. The drive is manufactured with simple pins, which reduces the time required to assemble it, says the vendor.
The board embeds a digital drive, a motion controller and PLC functionalities in one unit. The device can handle complex motions without an external controller. Movement sequences can be programmed directly on the PIM while system control functions are handled from the supervising PC or PLC. Motion modes such as contouring profiling, gearing, electronic camming and PVT are executed in stand-alone or multi-axis configurations.
For quick industrial integration, PC and PLC motion libraries are available. Starter kits help designers to evaluate the device and develop specific projects. The PIM2401 supports CiA standards DS-30 v4.02 CANopen. Incremental encoders, digital and linear Halls are incorporated by default.
