Austin, TexasSupporting Tektronix 's value-class oscilloscopes with USB (Universal Serial Bus) plug-and-play scope-to-PC connectivity, National Instruments (NI) has some nifty new software.
NI is now supporting the recently released Tek TDS1000B Series and TDS2000B Series of digital storage oscilloscopes. NI offers this support in its SignalExpress Tektronix Edition (also referred to by NI as SignalExpress TE ) interactive PC-based measurement software.
With USB plug-and-play capability and no need for programming, SignalExpress TE lets you connect to and control Tek instruments from your PC. It imparts remote instrument control, live waveform measurement, analysis, and reporting capabilities. SignalExpress Tektronix Edition makes it possible to seamlessly connect stand-alone instruments to PCs and perform instant control, measurement analysis, and documentation.
Automatic Instrument Detection
The software's USB plug-and-play connectivity also automatically detects a Tektronix oscilloscope, and then prompts you with an auto-play dialog. With a mouse click, you can then configure all instrument communication, view live measurement data, and take immediate control of the oscilloscope.
Using SignalExpress Tektronix Edition, you can access more than 200 measurement, processing, analysis and reporting capabilities. These can apply to live data acquired from Tek oscilloscopes and signal sources via USB, GPIB/IEEE-488 (General Purpose Interface Bus), and Ethernet/LAN (local area networking).
For Microsoft Applications
You can also drag-and-drop acquired data from a Tektronix scope directly into Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint , and WordPad . SignalExpress TE also gives you automated measurement sweeping and limit testing.
A SignalExpress TE Base version, along with a 30-day free trial of NI's Professional version, ships as part of the standard configuration with the aforementioned Tektronix TDS1000B and TDS2000B scopes, as well as with Tek's DPO4000 Series oscilloscopes. The Professional version provides advanced signal processing, analysis, documentation and connectivity.
