LONDON Over 11.5 million (42%) of British workers plan to check their work emails over the festive season according to research carried out for Fujitsu Siemens Computers
Almost a half (48%) of the nation’s male workers will log in compared to 33% of female workers. Regionally, workers in Greater London are the biggest email addicts, more than half the workers in the area will check work emails over Christmas – compared to 35% in the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber.
The survey also found that nearly seven million of Britain’s Christmas emailers plan to make the process easier by using a mobile device, such as a PDA, laptop or internet phone to access work emails with 42% of them going as far as saying say that mobile devices will enable them to spend more quality time with their family over the festive period.
They believe that mobile technology gives them the freedom to check their emails from anywhere – without having to leave the fun. Conversely over one million workers fear that they’ll lose family time by not having the technology to allow them to check their emails on the move.
