LONDON Three of a suite of material programmes launched by DTI are to be based at the National Physical Laboratory and are to cover electronics materials.
The research will look at characterising lead-free reliability, new generations of conductive adhesives and recyclable substrates, and corrosion properties of lead-free materials. NPL is also running two specific projects, again on a collaborative basis: looking at tin whiskers; and PCB reliability, particularly z expansion issues and conductive anodic filamentation (CAF).
Companies interested in taking part and being invited to join a project review group should contact Dr. Chris Hunt.
