It is a dual radio multi band RF transceiver for Car-to-X (C2X) applications as well as traditional WiFI and will be released for automotive production in 2015 and is expected to be available to consumers as early as 2016. It meets Japanese 760Mz C2X requirements, US and European (5.9GHz) as well as Wi-Fi and DSRC (5.8GHz) specifications.
C2X is a part of the on-going efforts of the Car-to car communications consortium to improve auto saftey through the use of a wireless WiFi based cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) with Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communication (V2V) supported by Vehicle-to-Infrastructure Communication (V2I).
It incorprates the company's Cohda Wireless SAF510x baseband processor and makes use of oftware defined radio technology, and is designed to provide fast, accurate and reliable communication to and from the vehicle and make possible delivery of safety-critical information to the driver significantly faster than current, conventional applications can.
The TEF510x RF-Transceiver incorporates most of the world standards, including those for Europe, US and Japan, as well as DSRC and Wi-Fi (802.11abgn) standards. To adapt to a variety of model configurations as well as body structures, it incorporates ssupport for various antenna configurations and diversity schemes.
