LONDON Pelikon, the developer of thin, flexible plastic display technology has opened of a sales office in Boston, Massachusetts and appointed Keith Smith as Senior Sales Manager with responsibility for spearheading Pelikon’s drive to capture a major share of the expanding displays market in the US.
Smith (left) joins Pelikon from Xaar Americas/Vivid Print Innovations, a Cambridge U.K. based inkjet company, where he was responsible for leading a 25% growth in the South American OEM market including several Fortune 500 companies.
Hugh Baker-Smith, who recently joined Pelikon as Director of Sales and Marketing, said, “When Pelikon closed its most recent successful funding round we said that a significant portion of those funds would be used to accelerate the company’s growth into new markets and territories. The opening of a US based office and the strengthening of our sales team are key steps in implementing that strategy.”
The company has research and development facilities in Cambridge U.K. for its pSEL (printed, segmented electroluminescent display) technology and a manufacturing plant in Cardiff, South Wales. Pelikon’s pSEL displays, which are less than half a millimetre thin, are suitable for home appliances, consumer electronics and industrial applications.
