BRISTOL, England Paul Mountford, senior vice president of worldwide channels at Cisco Systems, has joined Phyworks’ board of directors. Phyworks is a fabless semiconductor company developing 10Gbps electronic dispersion compensation (EDC) IC’s as well as devices supporting the LAN, SAN and telecommunications markets.
The global channel program, which Mountford has led for over two years, is responsible for more than 92-percent of all Cisco enterprise and commercial business.
Mountford said, “I believe that Phyworks is properly positioned to impact the market as it transitions from an R&D venture to a commercial business.”
The company has several product launches planned for 2004, and he will advise on maximizing the market impact.
Stephen King, Phyworks’ CEO, said: “We’re excited at Paul’s agreement to join the Phyworks board. His commercial experience, as we transition from heavy research and development to an aggressive sales focus, will be invaluable.”
The announcement follows Phyworks’ recent appointment of former Cable and Wireless MD Mike McTighe as chairman and, last month, Terry Thomas was appointed vice president of World Wide Sales. – positioning the UK fibre optic pioneer’s aggressive move to attack the market with its innovative products throughout 2004 and into 2005.
