BRISTOL, England Fabless optical network device developer, Phyworks, has boosted its management team with a fourth appointment in three months. It has hired Tim Esparon as vice president of manufacturing operations and who will be responsible for enhancing Phyworks’ worldwide supplier relationships at strategic and tactical levels as well as developing cost effective test solutions for their new product lines.
Esparon will also be responsible for developing and maintaining the quality and management systems expected of a leading optical chipset manufacturer.
Esparon’s recruitment follows Phyworks’ capture of senior industry figures including Mike McTighe (formerly MD of Cable and Wireless) as chairman of the company’s board, Paul Mountford, senior vice president of worldwide channels at Cisco Systems, who joined as a board member and Terry Thomas, who was recruited in July as global vice president for sales.
Prior to joining Phyworks, Esparon enjoyed senior roles at 3D Labs where he was manufacturing and quality director before becoming vice president for worldwide operations. Prior to this, he held senior management positions at Micronas Semiconductor, SCI, and Hughes Microelectronics, where he was responsible for many of the company’s quality and process management programmes.
