NICE, France Following a shareholders’ meeting held in Rozzano on April 16, the board of directors of Telecom Italia met on April 17 and nominated former STMicroelectronics CEO Pasquale Pistorio as chairman and confirmed Carlo Buora as executive deputy chairman and Riccardo Ruggiero as chief executive officer.
Pistorio had been strongly tipped for the job (see Pistorio being lined up as chairman of Telecom Italia).
Pistorio has been given responsibility of overseeing the process of examination and definition of the strategic guidelines for the company and the group, with the assistance of the executive deputy chairman and the CEO and is expected to come up with strategic and oversee the development of the industrial plans and related implementation processes.
He was also given organizational responsibility for coordination of the functions of group general counsel and corporate and legal affairs, public affairs and strategy.
Buora has responsibility for internal control, also has organizational responsibility for the coordination of the Olivetti business unit and the media business unit.
