Portwell, Inc. launched its new ROBO-8779VG2AR, an Intel® Core 2 Quad/Core 2 Duo/ Celeron® processor-based PICMG 1.0 SBC with DDR3 SDRAM, VGA, DVI, Dual Gigabit Ethernet, Audio and USB.
RORB-8779VG2AR offers a flexible FSB selection of 1333/1066/800 MHz, up to 4GB DDR3 SDRAM on two 240-pin DIMM sockets, support for Intel® G41 Express Chipset integrated with Intel’s GMA X4500 graphic engine, dual display VGA and DVI-D interface (SDVO for other display types), dual Gigabit Ethernet based on PCI-E x1, one Compact Flash socket via IDE, high bandwidth I/O and other rich I/O connections such as FDD, serial ports, parallel port, USB 2.0 and SATA ports.
Portwell’s ROBO-8779VG2AR Core 2 Quad-based PICMG 1.0 SBC is well suited for applications in industrial automation and control, medical imaging equipment, digital security surveillance and network security.
Great Computing Performance and Optimized 3D Graphics
“The new ROBO-8779VG2AR offers great computing performance because it is powered by up to four processor execution cores via the Intel® Core 2 Quad,” says Vincent Liao, senior manager of Portwell’s Advanced Product Research Department. “Featuring the latest Intel® G41 Express Chipset with GMA X4500, our new ROBO-8779VG2AR delivers enhanced video, optimized 3D graphics, responsiveness and scalability, as well as the high speed performance available via dual Gigabit Ethernet,” Vincent adds.
Backwards Compatibility for Future Planning
Martee Huang, sales VP of Portwell, stressed that longevity and legacy support are two of the most important factors for customers in the PICMG 1.0 marketplace. “The dilemma has been that users want the latest CPU to increase productivity, yet they need all of their legacy components to continue to function without fault,” Martee explains. “Normally, the latest and greatest processors are often not backwards compatible and leave legacy systems gathering dust. That’s something that Portwell does not condone.”
