Programming the Transputer

A transputer is a microprocessor designed to work in concert with other transputers in such a way that the composite machine behaves as a single program entity. This system view has proven successful in diverse applications such as the data processing components in image processing for optical character recognition. radar Signal processing and in the distributed control of large disk systems.
To support the multi-processor operation. the transputer has a microcoded schedular that has the primitives for task management, communications and timing operations supported within the instruction set.
