Pulsar takes Israeli IC range up to 10Gbit/s

Pulsar Electronics has signed up as UK and Republic of Ireland distributor for Mysticom, an Israeli-based start-up specialising in complex mixed-signal and DSP ICs for Giga Ethernet, Infiniband, fibre channel and high-speed backplanes.

The deal is one of the first for the recently-founded Pulsar, set up, like so many UK distributors and reps in the past, by two former Memec executives.

Simon Phillips, MD of Pulsar, said, “Mysticom is one of the few companies that has been able to scale its technology from 10Mbit/s to 10Gbit/s. As such, it is a perfect fit for our strategy of concentrating on the communications and multimedia markets.

“We have seen considerable activity already within a range of customers particularly for the 1 and 10Gbit devices.”

Pulsar will look to appoint a distribution partner for the line as the market for the devices develops. Mysticom was set up in 1997 in Netanya, Israel, and has a sales and design centre in California.
