RFID pioneers join forces

LONDON — Schreiner Group GmbH & Co. KG has acquired RFID solutions developer X-ident GmbH from T.Technology Holding, a part of the Austrian Trierenberg Group.

Schreiner Group (Oberschleissheim, Germany) has six divisions, with Schreiner LogiData representing the group’s work on radio frequency identification (RFID). X-ident (Düren, Germany) first supplied RFID technology for a DASA/Lufthansa project in 1995. Today X-ident offers a range of smart labels, tags and tickets under the brand name of IQ-paper and has production capacity for 160 million labels. It supplied the tickets for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and in 2007 has already provided over 30 million tickets for the Moscow subway.

Both companies supply a range of intelligent identification solutions for pharmaceutical, automotive, textile, engineering, document tracking, transport logistics container, library, ticketing, authenticity and value/asset protection applications.
