LONDON Professor J David Rhodes is to retire as group chief executive and member of the board of Filtronic plc at the company's AGM on September 29.
Rhodes took on the role of group chief executive when John Roulston left the group in January 2006 in order to stabilize the company’s operational position.
Professor Rhodes had been chairman since founding Filtronic in 1977 and has been a professor of electronic and electrical engineering at Leeds University since 1975. It is expected that he will become a consultant to the group.
John Poulter has joined as the Filtronic board as non executive chairman with Rhys Williams retiring as chairman with immediate effect and remaining as a member of the board until he retires at the forthcoming AGM.
Poulter joined Spectris (Egham, U.K.), a developer of precision instrumentation and controls in 1988 and was chief executive from 1992 until he became non-executive Chairman in 2001. His earlier career was with BTR plc and Cambridge Instruments and he has been a non-executive director of a number of public companies including RAC plc and Kidde plc. He is currently a non-executive director of Smaller Companies Value Trust plc and several private companies.
