RoHS-compliant SBC withstands higher temperatures

Eugene, Ore.—VersaLogic Corp. announced two versions of its Cobra single board computer (SBC) that are RoHS compliant and available in both standard (0°C to + 60°) and extended (-40° to + 85°C) temperature versions.

High-end applications include transportation, automation, medical equipment, and other areas where extreme reliability is needed. Using the Intel Pentium M processor and 855 GME chipset, the Cobras are complete SBCs on an EBX platform.

The EBX-12p (standard temperature version) features a 1.8 GHz Pentium M processor while the EBX 12t (extended temperature version) features a 1.0 GHz Pentium M processor. Both boards include on-board support for up to 2 GB RAM, Extreme Graphics 2 video, Ethernet, USB, serial communication, and analog and digital I/O.

The boards include specialized reliability features, such as TVS devices to protect against ESD damage, a watchdog timer and CPU temperature sensor, and an OEM-enhanced, field-upgradeable embedded BIOS. Off the shelf options include Gigabit Ethernet, analog I/O, and a pass-through PC/104-Plus connector. Customizations include conformal coating, customized BIOS, and many other options.

Cobra is designed to work with embedded operating systems, including Windows CE/XP/XPe, Linux, VxWorks, QNX, DOS, and other real-time OSs.
