Portland, Ore.A real-time operating system (RTOS) suite from eSOL, Inc. targets Texas Instruments Inc.’s TMS320DA295 audio processor and consists of the PrKERNELv4 multiasking kernel and PrFILE FAT-compatible file system. Both are the first to be integrated into, and fully support, TI’s production-ready portable reference design for MP3 players and portable audio jukeboxes.
PrKERNELv4 is a compact preemptive kernel offering 120 system calls suited for real-time embedded applications. PrFILE outfits your application with a Windows-compatible file system. Teaming both with TI’s production-ready hardware, products can be brought to market with as few as three months, according to eSOL. (See www.ti.com/portableaudio7.)
eSOL is also developing a kernel object viewer for PrKERNELv4, which will provide kernel object awareness for TI’s Code Composer Studio Integrated Development Environment. Specifically, the viewerexpected to be released before the year’s endwill show detailed snapshots of kernel information, including the status of kernel internal structures, task, flags, mailboxes, and other kernel objects.
PrKERNELv4 and PrFILE are available now with full source code. Development licenses start at $2,000 each.
