LONDON Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente GmbH and Infineon Technologies AG are to extend their distribution agreement on Jan 1 to include the U.K., Ireland, Spain and Portugal, along with South Africa.
The move expands their existing agreement which covers Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, the Benelux states and Eastern Europe. It is another step in Rutronik's (Ispringen, Germany) aim for the pan-European harmonization of its line card.
In the U.K., Rutronik has a team of six FAEs and 32 sales specialists while on the Iberian Peninsula, it has outlets in Vila Nova de Famalicão (Portugal) and Barcelona, Madrid and San Sebastián (Spain) and a 13-strong FAE and sales team. It works in South Africa through a distribution partnership.
The agreement covers the entire semiconductor range by Infineon (Munich, Germany), including among other things micro-controllers, wireless and sensor modules. Rutronik has been a partner of Infineon, previously Siemens, for over 10 years.
Rutronik believes the U.K. industrial and automotive markets will be promising for Infineon products in the U.K. with level 2 and 3 suppliers for automotive and heavy duty vehicles representing strong customer potential.
