LONDON Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente (Ispringen, Germany) is combining its expertise in the field of displays and embedded boards by setting up a separate business division.
The division will join three existing division which handle active, passive and electromechanical components. The move is to extend Rutronik's position as a system and solution provider beyond the actual distribution of components.
Thomas Schneider is joining Rutronik as manager of the division and the set-up follows the signing of a pan-European franchise agreement with Sharp Microelectronics Europe in September. The deal covers Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. In these regions, Rutronik can supply the Sharp range of displays, LEDs and opto-couplers. The company also has complimentary franchises for boards and touch panels.
Schneider said, “The market we will be operating in with this new division is growing by an annual rate of some 30 per cent. This signifies a challenge we would very much like to meet! Thanks to pan-European structures and our wide-ranging expertise, we will be looking to significantly expand our shares in this segment.”
