Sagem deal widens Alpha’s GSM line

Basingstoke, UK — Alpha Micro Components has been appointed as the first UK distributor for Sagem's 'machine-to-machine' wireless module portfolio.

Although much attention has been focused on the faster GPRS (General Packet Radio Services) recently, Alpha believes that GSM remains the most appropriate, and cost-effective, transmission medium for many applications, including those that use text messaging.

Products added to the Alpha range include the Sagem M0110d GSM module. The company says there is already interest from the security market, where the M0110d can be designed into a system which sends property owners an SMS message if a burglar alarm is triggered.

The deal with Sagem will complement Alpha Micro's existing modem lines which are particularly strong in the GPRS arena.
