Schaffner snaps up German filters line

LONDON — The Schaffner Group has acquired the employees, technology and assets of Betec-Engineering GmbH which specializes in the development and distribution of Bluewave active harmonic filters.

Betec-Engineering (Nürtingen, Germany) posted sales of approximately € 2 million (about $ 2.7 million) in fiscal 2008, and has a staff headcount of around 10.

Betec-Engineering's Bluewave active harmonic filters will complement the Schaffner (Luterbach, Switzerland) ECOsine family of passive harmonic filters, which was launched in 2008. As part of the integration, the Schaffner Group will commence volume production of active harmonic filters in its plant in Shanghai starting in March 2009.

With ECOsine and the Bluewave technology, Schaffner has astate-of-the-art product offering for harmonic filters and aims to generate significant additional sales in this sustainable growing market.
