LONDON ScottishPower and the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow have joined forces to provide an Advanced Research Centre (SPARC) at the University.
It will receive £150,000 annual funding from ScottishPower and involve researchers from the University's Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering.
The research will focus on power network development, asset engineering and asset strategy with an aim to to develop new technologies that can be put to practical use on ScottishPower's electricity networks.
The research team will be based within the University's Institute for Energy and Environment within the Faculty of Engineering.
