Semiconductor trade association adds 150th member


LONDON — The University of Southampton has become the The National Microelectronics Institute's (NMI)s150th member as the trade association representing the semiconductor industry in the U.K. and Ireland, has seen a 50 percent increase in its membership in little over a year.

Established in 1996, NMI's membership includes fabless semiconductor manufacturers, IDMs, foundries, design services, IP providers, EDA tool providers and research and academic institutions.

Derek Boyd, CEO, NMI said, “Our last three new members in fact are very representative of the complete cross section of industry we are now working with and all are at the cutting edge of microelectronics technology.”

The latest three memebrs are the University of Southampton, a top 10 research university, with a growing portfolio of spin-out companies; SiGe Semiconductor, an innovator in next-generation wireless ICs; and Korusys, a design consultancy with a pedigree in ASIC and FPGA system and software development.
